Jeffrey T. Dyson, CLF

Managing Partner

Jeff is a managing partner for New York Life and has been with the company since 2001. Within his role, Jeff’s biggest strengths are his team-building skills, accountability, and his ability to create a culture of success while still having fun. His mission, he says, is to run the most esteemed financial services organization in Southern California and their family values, loyalty, trust, and professionalism play a big role in this mission. After successfully running his own practice, Jeff found his true calling in leadership and finds fulfillment in the work he is able to do today. He has recruited, trained, and/or worked with countless insurance agents and financial advisors and is passionate about assisting them and watching them grow in their own successes. In his current practice, Jeff leads by example with the company's culture of respect, expertise, competitiveness, and a sense of pride in what they do. 

Jeff graduated from The Johns Hopkins University in 1993 with a degree in political science and then from The American College in 2011 with his CLF designation. Before working with New York Life, Jeff entered the field of financial services as an agent with John Hancock in 1993. During this time he earned the awards of Rookie Agent of the Year as well as Agent of the Year. After some time working in this position, Jeff went on to build a team and expand his practice, earning him another award of Sales Manager of the year. Today Jeff is engaged to his lovely fiancé Natalie and has one child, Marsden. When he isn’t working, Jeff loves to golf, cook, coach, and play with his dog.

Vidal Velasquez

Administrative Manager

Vidal “Billy” Velasquez, MSM, is the administrative manager at New York Life and joined the company after his college graduation from the University of the Incarnate Word in June 2006. Within the company Billy utilizes his degree in business management as he leads a team of individuals and strives to provide outstanding service to all. It is in his work and helping others succeed that Billy finds great fulfillment and as a result, has also earned the honors of Best In Class Service and The Service Excellence Award. As a loyal and hardworking individual, Billy has a strong ability to find innovative and creative ways to meet the needs of those he works with. Billy is currently engaged to his fiancé, Sheena, and when he is not hard at work, he loves to spend time at the beach, golf, hike, and cook.

Luis Castaneda

Senior Agency Standards Consultant

Luis Castaneda is a Senior Agency Standards consultant for New York Life and has been with the company since 2014. In his career, Luis takes on many roles as he works to serve and assist agents in whatever capacity necessary. Prior to joining New York Life, Luis graduated from Arizona State University in 1994 with a degree in economics. In 1995, Luis went on to enter into his 20+ years of experience in investment and financial services by becoming a full-service stockbroker in New York City. After 5 years, Luis transitioned into management where he worked for several different companies before finding New York Life. As a man constantly pursuing experience and education, Luis worked hard to earn his FINRA Series 7, 8, 24, 55, 63, and 66 licenses. Outside of work, Luis enjoys spending his free time traveling, running marathons, and collecting classic cars.

Donna Weiser

Sales Development Manager

Donna Weiser works as the Development Manager for New York Life San Fernando Valley General Office, and has been with the company since 2010. Within her role, Donna helps to develop and train new agents and it is this opportunity to mentor and teach that makes her career a fulfilling one. Donna’s honest, caring, and fun personality is what sets her apart from others in her position and has won her so many honors and awards all throughout her career. As an New Organization Agent, Donna achieved Quality Council in 2011 and Executive Council in both 2012 and 2013 and while in the TAS Program. Donna has received additional honors, including 10-A-Month, New Organization Agent of the Month, Career Success Award, Zone Case Rate Leader* and more. In her free time she loves being with her family, running long distance and writing.

James Mackey

Sales Development Manager

James Mackey is a Sales Development Manager and has been with the company since 2008. James started his career with New York Life as an Agent for the East Bay General Office. Within one year, he became a Financial Services Professional (Registered Representative) where he could offer the variety of solutions New York Life and its family of companies has to offer, including investments. He has achieved several awards as an Agent and Financial Services Professional, including three Council Agent awards from 2012-2014, three NAIFA Quality awards from 2011-2014, and a San Francisco East Bay Wealth Managers award where he appeared in the Diablo Magazine. His vision early on with New York Life was to become a Sales Development Manager and that happened for him in April of 2015. In his current position, he provides training, mentoring, coaching, and skills mastery to Agents to enable them to have successful careers with New York Life.

James graduated from Cal State Hayward (now called Cal State East Bay) in 2003 with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance. James is happily married to his best friend Cristina and they have two beautiful children, Samuel and Madeline. In his free time, he enjoys his Rottweiler Gracie, the ocean, snowboarding, music, sports, and creative films such as Pulp Fiction.

Bryan Cunningham

Partner

Bryan Cunningham is a partner and recruiter for New York Life and has been with the company since October of 2008. As a coach by nature, Bryan utilizes his innate abilities to help and teach others in the recruiting process within the company. Bryan is passionate about the opportunity his career provides to change the lives of others by providing them with a career and all of the tools and abilities they need to excel. With 19 years of experience in the financial services industry, Bryan takes pride in what he does and believes that this, along with his commitment to his agents, is what makes the difference in his work. While in his career with New York Life, Bryan’s passion, communication skills, and work ethic have earned him numerous awards such as the Executive Council (2009,2013), the Leading Partner Award (2010), the Peak Performer Award (2010, 2011), the Senior President’s Award (2013)*, and more.

Prior to working with New York Life, Bryan graduated from California State University of Northridge with a degree in communications in 1997. He then went on to work as the youngest division manager/OSJ in a financial company before becoming an agent and then a member of the New York Life team. Bryan is happily married to his wife Ellen and they have two children, Taryn and Colin. He was the Former Regional Commissioner for AYSO in Castaic and when he is not working he loves devoting his time to the Circle of Hope, City of Hope, and several children charities. 

Scott Primm

Partner

Scott Primm is a partner in New York Life and has been with the company since March of 2015. The core services provided by Scott and the company are life insurance planning for families, businesses, and estates, retirement strategies, tax efficient investments and vehicles, college planning, executive bonus arrangements and more. Scott finds his passion in knowing that he makes a difference in the lives of individuals and both their families and/or businesses when it matters the most. He believes that, next to being a medical professional, working for a company like New York Life is the noblest profession in the incident of a lost loved one because of the help and guidance they provide.

Scott possesses knowledge and passion that sets him apart from the rest and has enabled him to train and develop some of the top performing representatives in the company. He has a genuine desire to help people succeed and meet their goals and it is this characteristic, along with his integrity, honesty and respect, that has gotten him to the place his is now and earned him the awards and honors he has received. During his career Scott has earned the Club 21, Executive Council, 10 a Month, Rookie of the Month, and New Organization Agent of the Month, all of which demonstrate his leadership and hard work. Scott has been in the insurance agency for 15 years as an agent, and Regional General Agent, sales representative, and now a partner. During his previous careers, Scott received many promotions and awards and has used his experience to become the New York Life team member he is today. Scott is married to his wife Nancy and they have four children, Natalee, Jareth, Ethan, and Corbin. Outside of work Scott loves to hunt, fish, golf, shoot, raise and train bird dogs, and watch them compete.

Rahim Solehdin

Partner

Rahim F. Solehdin is a partner at New York Life and has been with the company since 2013. After building a successful financial services practice with New York Life, Rahim wanted to leverage his strengths to help even more families by teaching and coaching other individuals on how to build a successful practice of their own. Rahim’s dedication to building and growing a team of successful agents has played a great role making New York Life a great company it is.

Rahim graduated from California State University of Northridge with degrees in Finance and Risk Management. During his career at New York Life, Rahim made Executive Council 2 years in a row, 2015 & 2016, and also won several other awards including: Club 21, 10-A-Month, and Agent of the Month. Rahim is also a member of NAIFA (National Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors). Rahim is happily married to his wife Sanam and enjoys spending his free time with his family, traveling, and cooking.

Bart Burson

Partner

Bart Burson is a partner at New York Life and has been with the company since 2014. Bart and the New York Life team work hard to help families and businesses plan for their futures by setting goals and devising financial plans to achieve them. Bart’s services focus on life insurance plans for families and businesses, college planning, retirement strategies, and advantageous investment plans. Bart’s drive and commitment to his work is rooted in his desire to genuinely help people by providing them with the emotional comfort and financial security they need during life’s most challenging moments.

Bart started off as an agent in New York Life and it was his passion, tireless work ethic, honesty, drive, and commitment to giving every client 110% that earned him the awards he has received. His achievements include three consecutive executive councils in his first three years, multiple Club 21 achievements, and multiple 10 a Month. He is also a member of NAIFA (National Association of Investment Financial Advisors). His time, experience, and strengths as an agent has given Bart the tools and resources he needs to develop and train incoming advisors as they begin their careers at New York Life. Bart is a “family man” at heart and loves nothing more than spending quality time with his wife and children.
